The letters are to Robert Walton's sister Margaret. The letters state that Robert has no friends and his sister is the only person that comes close to being a friend. The letters also state about his travels and all of his encounters. He talks about how much he misses his sister and that he promises to stay out dangers way. He also talks about the people he helped while they were stuck in the ice.
ReplyDeleteRobert Walton Is Kinda Like An Adventurer. He's A Sailor. He Wishes To Be A Writer. He Writes To His Sister Margarette. He Writes ToHis Sister, Because He Has No Friends At All. He Writes Down What He Wishes To Do.
ReplyDeleteHe Wants Companionship.
He Writes To HIs Sister Telling Her He Stumbled Upon A accident. He see's A Man On A Sledge And Describes His Structure To Be Big. He Meets Another Man Who Was Injured. Walton Takes Him In And He Cares For Him. The Stranger Is Going To Tell His Story To Walton. I Agree With What Masi Said...
-Joseph Mafnas-
Robert Walton is a captain of a whale ship and self-educated man who set out to reach and explore the North Pole and find an Arctic passage to connect the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. He's a loner too and that's the reason why he writes letters to his sister
ReplyDeleteim not sure if this is right, but here it goes... i think we are gonna find out why Victor Frankenstein was out there. Also to see if his intentions were good about his creation. Hopefully we find out why he wanted to create it in the first place. Maybe because he was using his evil mind to get back at someone. i really don't, but in the end everything happened for a reason.
ReplyDeleteMr. Flores, your thoughts are heading in the right direction. I think that you are trying to say that the letters will tell the story of Frankenstein: why Victor was there, his intentions of his creation and so forth.

I think the letters frame the story of Frankenstein because Robert Walton met this man(Victor Frankenstein), who Walton feels is so interesting. And Victor is going to tell Robert the story of what has happened to him. And Robert tries to copy everything Victor says 'word for word'. And Robert sends the letters to his sister Margaret. At first, I was wondering who the man was. I first thought it was Frankenstein, because he looked in such bad condition. But then, their was another man who was bigger and was going to a different place. I think the letters were giving us hints of the story of Frankenstein and how the idea backfired.
ReplyDeleteI agree with what masi said about Robert Walton and his sister being close. I also agree with the characteristics Joseph states about Robert Walton. He really is like all of those!
ReplyDeleteIm not sure also if this is right but yeah.. I Think the letters frames the story because Robert Walton actually meets the real frankenstein. Who is Victor Frankenstein. He want to be a writer and there was his chance. Walton came upon a man who wanted him to write his story. So Walton begins to find out the mysterious man on the sleigh. (Frankenstein)
ReplyDeleteumm yeah i wasn't sure how to put it. i agree with joseph because frankenstein is a mysterious man.

ReplyDeleteIt introduces the characters and how the mad scientist Victor Frankenstein meets Robert Walton. How Victor tells the story to Walton about the creation that he had made...
ReplyDeleteThe letters, the way i see it, framed the upcoming story of Frankenstein by introducing the main character and his childhood years, and sets a kind of eerie feeling in the reader in order to be more submerged in the novel. The letters described and shows how Victor behaves, looks and looked, and makes the reader's mind pace with agitation from confusion and predicting the outcome of the next few pages, but end up wrong.
